Based in Buckinghamshire, UK, The Pretty Hat was born out of the vision to create beautiful and practical hats. After a particularly cold winter in 2020 and a condition that caused hair thinning, I found myself wearing beanies almost constantly to protect my hair and scalp. Hats were the quickest way to hide my damaged hair and feel pretty, but they also finish off an outfit - especially berets!

I loved the look of high-street hats but not the lack of comfort or quality. Similarly, I loved the warmth of ski hats, but not the use of real fur or lack of style, so I set out to design my own. The first hat was a fleece lined pom beanie in off-white (now known as the Fifi Pom). I wore it all winter and had so many compliments and questions about this "pretty hat" that I decided to start my own brand. After eight years working in fashion e-Commerce, I felt capable and excited to give it a try! Many a late night, sample and stitch later, the online shop was launched. 

Every hat is named after a woman who has inspired me or been a positive influence in my life, and the designs reflect their fashion sense and personalities in some way.

I hope people get joy from wearing my hats and love the designs as much as I do, I am always excited to see customers wearing them.
